AUSTRALIA’S BIGGEST OUTBACK MUSIC FESTIVAL
Set for another record year, 95% of tickets are sold to the 2026 Mundi Mundi Bash
Organisers today announced that 95% of tickets have been sold to the 2026 Broken Hill Mundi Mundi Bash festival, with final allocations set to sell-out well ahead of the August 20-22 event dates off the back of strong demand for distinctly Australian experiences in regional settings.
Set against the vast expanse of the iconic Mundi Mundi Plains the Bash has, in four short years, become the country’s largest outback music gathering. This year, close to 15,000 people will once again converge on the red earth, framed by the Barrier Ranges and a horizon the stretches as far as the eye can see.
Event founder and Outback Music Festival Group managing director Greg Donovan said the near-sellout came amid a challenging economic climate, underscoring the resilience of the event’s audience.
“We’re thrilled to be sitting in such a strong position and heading toward another sold-out year,” he said. “It’s a tough environment at the moment, so to be so well supported is significant.”
With the cancellation of the Big Red Bash due to unprecedented long-term flooding when it was already sitting at 90% of tickets sold, the Mundi Mundi Bash stands as the sole “Bash” experience on the national calendar in 2026, helping to sharpened demand.
The 2026 program reflects the festival’s broad appeal, pairing heritage acts with contemporary mainstays. The Teskey Brothers, Jon Stevens and John Butler lead a bill that extends across generations, joined by Boy & Bear and Jessica Mauboy among others.
Beyond the music, organisers are widening the event’s footprint. A new prelude event, LIGHTFEST, will take place in Broken Hill in the lead-up week, featuring a large-scale drone show and street-level activations designed to extend visitation across the region.
“In just four years the Mundi Mundi Bash has grown to be Australia’s biggest outback music festival, and this year will be our biggest and best iteration,” Donovan said. “With no Big Red Bash for us in between times, we’re all counting down the weeks for our Bash fix in outback NSW.”
The full Mundi Mundi Bash line-up includes The Teskey Brothers, Jon Stevens, John Butler, Boy & Bear, Baby Animals, Jessica Mauboy, The Whitlams, Leo Sayer, Tim Finn, Richard Clapton, Troy Cassar-Daley, Chocolate Starfish, Furnace and the Fundamentals, Wendy Matthews, The Radiators, Shane Howard, Fanny Lumsden, ‘50 Years of Fleetwood Mac’, Hot Potato Band, Tom Busby and Wes Carr.
The camping-based festival features three days of legendary Australian performers on one of the most extraordinary Outback stages on earth along with unique outback entertainment off stage - from world record attempts and charity fun runs to camel rides, comedy and outdoor film nights.
Event organisers will announce a new activity to replace the world-record breaking Nutbush dance-off in the coming weeks.
The all-ages, dog friendly and BYO festival offers up a uniquely Australian destination adventure for families, grey nomads, camping and caravanning enthusiasts and intrepid travelers alike.
While the festival location is remote, it is also easily accessible by road. The Mundi Mundi Plains location has a sealed road leading right into the event site, with self-driving the most popular way to get there. There are however also scheduled flights and train transport available to Broken Hill for the Mundi Mundi Bash.
Ticket holders are able to bring their own food as well as alcohol, with a large range of food vendors selling both hot and cold food and non-alcoholic beverages also on offer at the event.
