REFLECTIONS: A Legacy in the Rain at Carla Zampatti AFW 2026

There is a specific kind of magic that happens when high fashion meets the elements. Last night, as Australian Fashion Week 2026 kicked off with the Opening Night Consumer Show, the Sydney skies offered a drizzle. But as the saying goes, the show must go on, and in the case of Carla Zampatti’s "Reflections," the rain only added to the spectacle.
Walking onto a runway that had been transformed into a shimmering, rain-slicked mirror, the collection felt more like a ceremony than a mere presentation. Under the steady leadership of Alexander Schuman, Chief Executive Officer, and the late Carla Zampatti’s eldest son, the house proved once again why it remains the heartbeat of Australian style.

As I stood by the long, illuminated runway, my lens caught the interplay of the city lights and the falling water against silhouettes that were architecturally sharp yet fluid. The spectrum was vast: from the iconic monochrome power tailoring the house is known for, to vibrant crimson suits, liquid golds, and ethereal lilacs.
The beauty was equally defiant. Despite the humidity, the official hair and makeup teams from O&M Pro and Shark Beauty delivered a look that was polished and wet-look chic - a perfect "reflection" of the environment. In the end, the weather didn't dampen the night; it amplified it. "Reflections" was a masterclass in resilience, showing us that true elegance doesn't just endure the storm, it shines through it.
