This Easter, the CWU Assistive Tech Hub is pleased to support the Banyule community by giving away a rollator walker. The giveaway will take place during the Macleod Village Easter Egg Hunt & Maker’s Market on Saturday, April 5, 2025.

For many people, moving around each day is not easy. Mobility challenges can make everyday activities more difficult and sometimes lead to feelings of isolation. A rollator walker can help by offering more safety, confidence, and independence.

This giveaway is not only about providing equipment. It is about supporting someone in the community and helping them take part more fully in daily life.

🚶‍♂️ Why This Giveaway Matters for Banyule Residents

Around 1 in 6 Australians live with a disability—millions navigating life with limitations in movement, self-care, or communication. In Banyule, staying active and connected matters deeply, but access to assistive devices remains out of reach for many.

While the NDIS has helped some, only about 10% of people with disabilities get the support they need through it. That leaves a lot of folks still searching for help with essential tools like mobility aids.

Data from the ABS and AIHW underline how life-changing assistive tech can be—not just for movement, but for independence, dignity, and everyday participation in the world around us.

Through this giveaway, we hope to spark awareness and offer a small boost where it’s needed most.
