  • Written by The Times

Art + Gallery at Potts Point will present a much-anticipated exhibition from 8 to 21 this November, showcasing the extraordinary work of renowned fashion and fine art photographer Tony Potts. This exclusive showing will offer a rare glimpse into Potts' illustrious career, featuring his most iconic black and white nudes, as well as his celebrated Bondi images.

With a career spanning more than five decades across global fashion capitals, Potts has collaborated with top designers, models and publications, leaving an indelible mark on the visual landscape of fashion. Tony has spent a lifetime both in front of and behind the camera. As a model, he appeared in editorial pages of almost every Vogue magazine throughout Europe. Working with many of the world's best fashion photographers - Helmut Newton, Patrick Demarchelier, Albert Watson, Oliviero Toscani, as well as Norman Parkinson and other legends - greatly influencing Tony's future at work as a photographer.

In tandem with his commercial work, Tony has built an extensive archive of fine art photography that hangs in prestigious private collections in Australia, Europe and the United States, with his work exhibited in galleries and arts fairs in Milan, London, Paris and Sydney.

Tony’s signature photographic style captures both sophistication and sensuality in unassuming scenarios. He creates compelling, stirring and enduring images that reveal the innate sensuality within all of us.

He is perhaps best known however, for his black and white nudes, his fashion photography, (particularly his Australian work of the 80s, 90s and early 2000s), as well as a series on Sydney's Bondi Beach - an important timestamp on the beach culture that has remained quintessential to Australian life.

“I am thrilled to present this collection in tandem with Art+. It’s an honour to showcase my work in a setting that celebrates creativity and style,” said Potts.

“This exhibition represents my journey through photography, capturing moments that have defined my career and I can’t wait to share these images and the stories behind them with the audience.”

The upcoming exhibition will spotlight Potts' unparalleled ability to blend artistry with high fashion, bringing to life his visionary approach to photography. Attendees will experience a curated selection of Potts' most iconic images, including his legendary Bondi shots that have become emblematic of his unique style.

The exhibition promises to be a captivating journey through Potts' career, showcasing his evolution as an artist and his contributions to the world of fashion. From high-energy shots to intimate portraits, each image will offer a window into the artistry and vision that define his legacy and his work that is celebrated not only for its stunning visual impact but also for its ability to tell compelling stories through the lens.
