Yoto now available in Kmart and The Memo, bringing screen-free storytelling to Australian families

Yoto, the kids’ audio platform inspiring creativity and imagination around the world, has launched its first major retail partnership in Australia. The award-winning Yoto players and story cards are now available at Kmart and The Memo, bringing the magic of screen-free storytelling to even more Aussie families.

Recent Yoto research reveals that children now spend an average of 2.6 hours a day on screens, and many parents are looking for new ways to spark creativity and learning beyond them. Yoto offers a thoughtful alternative - an interactive audio player that uses physical cards to unlock a world of books, music, podcasts, and games. It encourages kids to listen, imagine, and play independently, all without the need for a screen. As of June 2025, Yoto families have clocked up more than 500 million hours of listening!

Since launching locally in July 2024, Yoto has sold a player every five minutes, with the number of Australian families using Yoto growing by 300% year on year. The new retail expansion will bring a range of Yoto products in store, giving families easier access to storytelling and imaginative play. It comes at a time when the global audiobook industry is booming - projected to grow by more than 25% annually over the next seven years.

Sharina Simnett, AU Country Manager at Yoto, said: “We’re excited by retail’s potential, combining major retailers with trusted family destinations. It’s a simple but powerful way to meet families in their everyday lives and invite them into Yoto’s screen-free world of stories, music, and imagination they can touch, try, and take home the joy of Yoto.”

Yoto players and cards will be available in all Kmart and The Memo stores Australia-wide from 27 October 2025.
