Uniden has released another award-winning product as part of their ‘Baby Watch’ series. The BW4501 Baby Monitor is an easy to use camera for keeping eyes and ears on your little one.

The camera is easy to set up and can be mounted to the wall or attached to other objects using the handy clamp, making it a great renter-friendly option. This monitor is a good option for those not wanting to connect to WiFi.

Opening the box, you’ll find two main parts; the full HD camera and a handheld, 4.3” colour screen monitor. The camera provides a great quality image with the ‘Night Vision’ feature giving good vision even in complete darkness. The monitor, helpfully, preserves battery life by sleeping when your baby sleeps, and alerting you visually by turning on when there’s been a noise or movement within the room or baby’s cot. There is a small aerial on the back of the monitor that greatly enhances signal strength between the camera and the monitor. As well as being able to see and hear baby, the monitor lets you speak to bub to sooth them or let them know you’re coming thanks to the walkie talkie function.

We also love the temperature display which is handy for knowing how to dress bub for the room’s environment, especially as the nights are getting cooler.

There are other great features such as the ability to play white noise and lullabies, and the ability to record photos and videos on a Micro SD card (sold separately).

We like that the coloured night light (located on top of the camera) can easily be turned on/off from the monitor and has a few different options. You can choose your own colour from the colour wheel and turn it to static rather than fading between colours. The ‘marquee’ option is certainly interesting if you want your little one to experience a disco!

The bedroom is right next to the living room (where we use the monitor) and we find the camera is very good at picking up other sounds due to the close proximity, so we like to keep the monitor volume on the lower side.

Overall the Uniden BW4501 is a great piece of parenting equipment, making for stress free evenings without having to jump to every noise that our baby makes at night!
