Several advantages of ethernet cabling over Wi-Fi for any Australian organisation

  • Written by The Times

Countries across the length and breadth of Australia continually look for ways to increase their reliability to offer security to their own processes and that of their customers. Efficiency can allow an advantage over their competitors which will see an increase in growth and profitability, while employees will also feel the benefit working in an environment that they are happy in and don’t feel the frustrations when things occasionally go wrong.

Ensuring that the best digital communications are in place is highly important, whether its for automotive use or something as simple as ensuring that work sent to printers reaches the right place and is carried out. The more informed organisations are likely to use the highest quality ethernet cable over the option of Wi-Fi for several good reasons.

  • Ethernet and its qualities are often forgotten about in the mobile age, as nearly everyone seems to have a device of some kind to rely upon. However, consider how many times someone may have trouble with their Wi-Fi at home and a support team will suggest that the issue is resolved by plugging in an ethernet cable to trouble shoot. That is because of the reliability that it provides over Wi-Fi.
  • While the speed of Wi-Fi continues to increase as technology advances, it still lags well behind the speed offered by ethernet. That can be vital to organisations that rely on safety features, whether it be security gates or traffic lights and signals. They must always be reliable, which is why they go for the cabling option. Maybe some operators relax by having fun by providing interactive toys for their cat.
  • The consistency and reliability are of paramount importance to many working environments where files may need to be transferred. It could X rays in healthcare surroundings or patient data that is transferred far more quickly and reliably than via Wi-Fi. And then there is the issue of security. Wi-Fi information can be intercepted as it travels through the air, whereas ethernet data can only be accessed by a physical attack on a network, which is far less unlikely and a lot easier to detect.
  • Because ethernet cabling is simpler, it is quicker to resolve if any issues occur. It’s a matter of replacing a piece of faulty cabling allowing operations to continue quickly to the same standard thereafter. Wi-Fi issues can take a lot of time to detect and put right, which is time that might lead to a loss of production or putting safety at risk. Having such peace of mind may allow for a visit to a historic national park.
  • Weather interference does not affect ethernet in the same way that it can affect a Wi-Fi signal, which is especially comforting during stormy conditions as things can continue as normal. Having a leading supplier that can provide the best quality items and provide shipping is also an advantage.

Ethernet provides fast and reliable communications, with security and safety being enhances compared to relying upon Wi-Fi connections, offering excellent value for money.
