Aussie’s favourite Easter brands revealed

The votes have been counted and Australians have crowned their favourite Easter brands, according to Finder, Australia’s most visited comparison site.

With Australians near the top of global Google searches for ‘Hot Cross Buns' and ‘Easter Eggs’ – it’s no wonder there’s a bit of excitement walking down supermarket aisles around this time of year.

Finder worked with global data and insights company Dynata to analyse the results of 29,967 individually completed surveys from more than 11,899 Australian consumers on their recent retail purchases.

Cadbury took out this year’s Best Easter Egg category, narrowly pipping Ferrero Rocher and Kinder.

Costco won the gong for Best Hot Cross Buns of 2022, beating out finalists Coles and Woolworths.

The budget retailer’s hot cross bun is expected to be a ‘cult favourite’ this Easter beating major supermarket offerings.

Australians were asked to rate the Easter goodies on the key measures of taste and value for money.

Taylor Blackburn, personal finance specialist at Finder, said the Finder Retail Awards were designed to help Australians make better purchasing decisions on everything from electronics to Easter eggs.

“Easter is one of the most beloved holidays for shoppers – but not all chocolate is created equal.

“It was interesting to see Costco swoop in and pick up the award for Best Rated Hot Cross Buns, beating out the larger two supermarket chains,” he said.

Three quarters of Australians (73%) plan on buying easter food like hot cross buns and Easter eggs, new research by the Australian Retailers Association and Roy Morgan found.

Consumers will fork out $100 each on average equating to $1.5 billion nationwide.

Blackburn said Easter treats are expected to be in high demand with many people looking to celebrate after a year of COVID disruptions.

“Get ahead of the rush and start your Easter shopping now – there are deals to be had in-store and with online retailers.

“A few clicks could save you time and money and maybe even make your Easter a bit more special,” he said.
