David Reynolds and Penrite Racing go pink at the Gold Coast 500 for Breast Cancer Awareness

David Reynolds and the Penrite Racing pit crew to wear pink with pride for Breast Cancer Awareness Month at the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500

Special edition pink helmets to feature as part of JAX Tyres & Auto’s and Penrite Racing’s ongoing support for the National Breast Cancer Foundation

Friday 20th October: Former Bathurst champion and JAX Tyres & Auto ambassador, David Reynolds, will don, and help to auction off, a special edition pink helmet at the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 for Penrite Racing this October 27th-29th, with all proceeds from the sale going to the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF).

To mark breast cancer awareness month in October, David Reynolds, along with his entire Penrite Racing pit crew, will proudly swap their Penrite Racing helmet colours for unforgettable pink during the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500, in support of the NBCF and its vision of Zero Deaths from breast cancer.

With Supercars helmet designs unique and highly personal to each driver and team, JAX Tyres & Auto will be honoured to have Reynolds wear the special edition pink helmet, designed by Rod Gilchrist – one of Australia’s leading helmet designers – in support of the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

JAX Tyres & Auto ambassador and Penrite Racing’s David Reynolds, reflects on how important this cause is and what it means to support the National Breast Cancer Foundation, saying: “The sad truth is that almost everyone knows someone who’s been affected by breast cancer, which is what makes me - and the entire team at Penrite Racing, and JAX - proud to help raise awareness for the incredible work done by the National Breast Cancer Foundation.”

Valued at $10,000, the limited-edition Bell HP7 Evo3 pink Breast Cancer helmet, painted by Rod Gilchrist, features a double carbon fibre shell along with the latest Bell technology. Race-ready, it includes all modern integrations essential to a Supercars drivers on-track performance, including a drink hose as well as a mouth and top feed air intake system designed to keep the whole head cool, while channelling clean air into the lungs.

Every Supercars driver’s helmet is a piece of intellectual property unique to each driver, serving not just as a safety device, but a statement piece, with this special edition version also helping to battle breast cancer.

The initiative is part of JAX Tyres & Auto’s ongoing support for the NBCF which, as 2023 corporate partner, has already seen the tyre and service specialists sell thousands of specially created pink valve caps, with all funds going directly to Australia’s leading not-for-profit organisation funding world-class breast cancer research.

Steve Grossrieder, CEO at JAX Tyres & Auto, adds: “At JAX, we don’t give up our iconic yellow branding lightly, but with the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 closing out Breast Cancer Awareness Month, painting David’s – and the entire pit crew’s - helmets pink in support of our incredible partner, the National Breast Cancer Foundation, felt like a fitting way to bring to a close an important month of awareness raising that we are proud to be a part of.”

Associate Professor Cleola Anderiesz, CEO of the National Breast Cancer Foundation, adds: "At the National Breast Cancer Foundation, we are working towards our vision of Zero Deaths from breast cancer and are proud to partner with JAX Tyres & Auto. As the National Breast Cancer Foundation  is entirely community-funded, we rely on the generosity of corporate partners like JAX Tyres & Auto to help fund world-class breast cancer research in Australia."
