The National Farmers Federation is calling on farmers and supporters to join an historic rally in Canberra on 10 September.

At 11am on Tuesday 10 September, at Federation Mall, opposite Parliament House, Canberra, the rally will bring to the attention of the Prime Minister and the Labor Party a list of grievances.

The NFF has said that "Farmers’ voices are increasingly being drowned out by activists who want to shut down Aussie farms. Whether it’s banning live sheep exports, water buybacks, new taxes and red tape, or destroying productive agricultural land – these policies which hurt farming communities are being driven by people who don’t understand or value what we do."

Farmers from across Australia will meet outside Parliament House in Canberra to send a united message to Anthony Albanese.

The NFF wants to tell all parliamentarians ahead of the next election, that they should listen to farmers, not anti-farming activists, when it comes to what’s best for rural industries.

This is the NFF's chance to arrange for people on the land and their supporters, to come together with a view to sending a clear and positive message that farmers deserve a seat at the table and that they deserve "a fair go".

Priority concerns the industry will highlight at the rally include:

    The activist-led ban on live sheep exports by sea

    Calls to scrap the Diesel Fuel Rebate

    Proposed new taxes for biosecurity and on superannuation

    Calls to scrap the 88 days of specified work for backpackers

    Water buybacks in the Murray Darling Basin and protecting the Great Artesian Basin

    Unnecessary red tape from Scope 3 emissions reporting

    The community impacts of energy and renewables developments

In support of the rally, the Leader of The Nationals David Littleproud, said,

"It has been more than 40 years since farmers were last forced to rally in Canberra against a Federal Labor government.

Farmers have been under constant siege from the Albanese Government, whether it be banning live sheep, changing the Murray Darling, the fresh food tax on farmers or the loss of the Ag Visa.

This rally is a result of the frustration farmers feel and what Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has done to agriculture."
