Meet Ella’s Elbow: The citrus squeezer and shot measurer redefining form and function

  • Written by Jenna

We recently got our hands on the new
Ella’s Elbow, a patented citrus squeezer that’s made to feel as though it was designed for squeezing blood from a stone. It cleverly doubles as a shot measurer, making it an all in one, cocktail making behemoth. We have to say, we’re thoroughly impressed.

STUDIO ELLA, known for its bespoke interiors and the seamless blend of art and design, has extended its philosophy into the kitchen, creating a tool that’s as beautiful as it is practical.

Born from a fusion of innovation, craftsmanship and a passion for mixology, Ella’s Elbow is a statement piece where design truly meets utility.

A squeezer built to last

Other citrus squeezers that we’ve owned through the years feel somewhat flimsy with paintwork that has chipped and eroded with general use. Ella’s Elbow is a refreshing exception. After two years of research, development and refinement, the result is a piece that feels strong, durable and built to endure years of cocktails, cooking and citrus squeezing sessions.

From our own use, it’s made squeezing lemons and limes much easier. There’s a reassuring sturdiness when you pick it up, that sense of quality you can feel straight away. The additional weight from the materials means you don’t have to work as hard to apply pressure to extract juice from lemons, limes and oranges. Big nights behind the bar, or serving your friends and family have got a lot less taxing on the hand and wrist muscles!

Designed for both chefs and mixologists

Ella’s Elbow elegantly combines the traditional ‘Mexican elbow’ — a citrus squeezer beloved by bartenders and chefs alike — with a precise spirit measure. The integrated shot measurer in the upper bowl is both clever and convenient, allowing you to move seamlessly between citrus and spirits when mixing drinks.

Crafted from annealed 316 austenitic-grade stainless steel in Yangjiang, China — the ‘Knife Capital’ renowned for centuries of steel expertise — this piece combines strength, durability and elegance in equal measure.

As co-inventor Damian Chandler puts it: “Ella’s Elbow was born from our design pursuit to create the best product ever and to utilise the previously overlooked upper bowl to enhance its utility. Made for mixologists and chefs alike, it balances elegance with durability.”
